What Should a Facility Prepare Before Adopting a Fall Alert Robot?
Wi-Fi along the patrol corridors, power, registering the staff who receive alerts, notice about filming, and the response order after an alert. Here is what a care facility should prepare before bringing in a fall alert robot, and what the robot operating partner, SV Robotics and the facility each handle.

There are four things for the facility to prepare. You need Wi-Fi along all the patrol corridors, power, registration of the staff who receive alerts, and notice about filming. Once you also settle who goes to check after an alert, your adoption preparation is complete.
Below are the items we go through with facilities before a demo when they evaluate our nursing home fall alert AI robot. Only the features offered today are described.
1. What does a fall alert do?
It finds people in the photos taken during patrol, and if a person is lying or slumped on the floor rather than on a bed or chair, it reports a fall candidate. Alerts go to registered staff by KakaoTalk notification (Alimtalk). The delivery time once a fall is detected is within 30 seconds.
A link for viewing the detection photo goes with the Alimtalk. And the floor, location and time the photo was taken are recorded. So that you can also tell about days when the robot patrolled less, we tell you the next day about days when patrol photos were few or missing.
2. What does it not do?
Knowing what it does not do first keeps your other preparations from overlapping.
- It does not prevent falls. It is an aid that helps staff notice quickly after someone has fallen
- It makes no medical judgment. Checking and responding are done by staff
- Places and times the robot does not pass (such as inside rooms) are not seen
- It is a request to check and may differ from what actually happened
3. What does the facility prepare?
You need Wi-Fi along all the patrol corridors, power, registration of the staff who receive alerts, and notice about filming.
| What to prepare | Question to check |
|---|---|
| Wi-Fi along all patrol corridors | Does Wi-Fi reach to the end of every corridor the robot travels? |
| Power | Is there a power outlet location for charging the robot? |
| Registering staff who receive alerts | Whom will you register as the staff who receive alerts? |
| Notice about filming | How will you notify residents and guardians about filming? |
Notice about filming is needed; whether to have a consent procedure is decided by the facility's policy and the responsible department. The items to decide are set out in How should video and personal information be handled when bringing a robot into a care facility?
4. Who goes when an alert arrives?
This is the first item to settle. An alert is a request to check, so it is only useful if the order for going to check after receiving it is already decided.
- Who goes to check when an alert is received
- What is recorded after checking, and who is informed
5. Who handles what?
| Handled by | Work |
|---|---|
| Robot operating partner | Running, charging and repairing the robot |
| SV Robotics | Analysis, alerts, uptime monitoring, reports and data management |
| Facility | Keeping Wi-Fi and power running; registering staff, entering work schedules and receiving alerts; notice about filming; checking on site when an alert arrives |
Running, charging and repairing the robot are handled by the robot operating partner. Analysis, alerts, uptime monitoring, reports and data management are handled by SV Robotics. A monthly report is included in the operations warranty subscription.
Registering staff, entering work schedules and receiving alerts are done by the facility. During hours when no staff member is registered in the schedule, alerts are not delivered.
6. How are photos managed?
The photo retention period and deletion method are set at contract and communicated to you. Because the AI judges the photos the robot takes while on patrol, they are decided together with which spaces will be patrolled.
7. Can we see it first? What about cost?
A remote demo takes 30 minutes; an on-site demo takes about 90 minutes (scheduled after the robot installation is confirmed); running it for a set period is discussed separately. Cost is given as a quote after we confirm the facility's size and configuration. Warranty terms are written in the quote.

Who repairs the robot if it breaks down?
Running, charging and repairing the robot are handled by the robot operating partner. Analysis, alerts, uptime monitoring, reports and data management are handled by SV Robotics.
Does a fall alert robot prevent falls?
It does not prevent falls. It is an aid that helps staff notice quickly after someone has fallen.
Can we see it in person before adopting?

Just telling us items 3 (Wi-Fi, power, staff registration, filming notice) and 4 (who goes after an alert) above is enough for us to set the scope of a demo. To compare with other detection methods, continue with Fall detection: how do you choose between sensors, mats, video and patrol robots?
